This article examines the emerging role China and its Belt and Road Initiative will play in the intellectual property area. It begins by exploring the country’s growing assertiveness in the international arena. The article then explores six areas in which this initiative can play constructive roles in facilitating international and regional cooperation. It concludes by addressing three oft-raised questions concerning the initiative.
