Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) released a list of Environmental Goods in the year 2012 to improve the trade and accessibility of environment-friendly technologies by lowering import taxes for those environmental products. The present list, which includes fifty-four subheadings, reveals significant gaps because it fails to consider the lower-income countries’ perspective and technological progression alongside nontariff trade restrictions that serve as limitations to green trade expansion. The article argues that APEC’s Environmental Goods (EG) List requires immediate reassessment to ensure compatibility with modern sustainability standards and goals. The article proposes several strategies, including the expansion of APEC’s EG List to promote sustainable economic development and environmental targets globally.
