From 1 January to 31 July 2023, there have been several developments in the aviation and space sectors. The European Commission is currently reviewing the Korean Air/Asiana merger. Meanwhile, it approved the Fortress Investment Group/Air Investment/JV and Inmarsat/ Viasat mergers. A considerable number of cases were brought against the Commission to challenge its decisions in the field of state aid, in large part by Ryanair. The ECJ rejected the appeal by American Airlines in American Airlines/Commission & Delta. Lastly, the UK CMA and CAA published a joint open letter to airport operators.
