This article looks
back to the Special Issue of the Air & Space Law Journal, Vol XXIII Number
6, 1998, an issue devoted solely to the then proposed ‘Unidroit Convention on
International Interests in Mobile Equipment’. The final text of the treaty has
some material changes from the draft considered in the December 1998 Special
Issue. The article examines the history, initial aim and proposed scope of the
Convention, which has become known as the Cape Town Convention and Protocol on
International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters Specific to Aircraft
Equipment.
