This article discusses the current state of maritime arbitration in Hong Kong, with particular reference to the factors favouring the territory as a seat of arbitration, the contribution of maritime arbitration to the development of commercial law and the constant need for a pool of competent home-grown arbitrators, lawyers and other professionals to service it.
