This article introduces the technique of coaching in mediation, whereby mediators may coach parties as to how to settle where they are both prepared to resolve their dispute(s) but do not know how to express their willingness to settle properly or to present it in such a way that will encourage their opponents to settle the dispute. The article also warns of ethical uncertainties in the use of this concept.
