This article discusses the work of the Inclusive Dispute Avoidance and Resolution (IDAR) Office established in January 2019 by the Hong Kong Department of Justice (DoJ) and the principal initiatives launched since its establishment, together with initiatives launched prior to this by the DoJ. The article is based upon a lecture delivered to the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (East Asia Branch) at Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre on 11 July 2019.
