This article comprises the verbatim Opening Remarks of the former Chief Justice of Hong Kong delivered at the ADR in Asia Conference in Hong Kong on 23 October 2020. In it, the Chief Justice focuses primarily on the importance of the rule of law in guaranteeing fair, just, impartial and independent decision-making, both by the courts and by arbitral tribunals.
