This article examines investor-State dispute settlement (ISDS) mechanisms within three of Vietnam’s most recent and sophisticated FTAs - the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) - and assesses the extent to which Vietnam has begun stepping up to a new level of multilateral accountability.
