This article discusses how, pursuant to Security of Payment (SOP) provisions for public works contracts introduced by the HKSAR government with effect from 31 December 2021, the Hong Kong construction industry is gearing up toward eventual implementation of mandatory statutory adjudication for payment disputes across all new public works contracts and sub-contracts.
