This article explores the pitfalls and opportunities that generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools may bring for dispute practitioners, particularly given a growing trend of ‘AI hallucinations’ that have featured regularly in legal research and party submissions.1 Close attention is paid to recent judicial and arbitral guidelines and court decisions emphasising the professional duties of legal practitioners in using AI tools to assist in legal research and the preparation of case submissions.
