This article provides a panoramic overview of key legislative reform proposals,* higher judicial decisions and institutional changes that have recently shaped or are seeking to shape the evolution of India’s arbitration regime. While identifying gaps between aspiration and practice in positioning India as an international arbitration hub, the authors stress the role of law reform and recent Supreme Court decisions in strengthening India's international arbitration framework, following internationally recognised best practices and asserting the country's stance as an arbitration-friendly jurisdiction.
