This article examines cultural considerations in international arbitration across South East Asia, highlighting how socio-cultural norms, such as hierarchy, indirect advocacy and an emphasis on relationship preservation, influence arbitration in the region and can impact counsel’s approach towards advocacy, tribunal dynamics and procedural design.
