Technology has evolved in commercial disputes, advancing rapidly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Navigating the practicalities of Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) whilst maintaining security and remaining cognisant of the associated environmental impact and living with COVID-19 has presented opportunities and challenges.Thus, the pandemic expedited the adoption of wider technologies designed to support and improve the efficiency of each stage of dispute resolution.Virtual machine (VM) technology allowed review teams to work remotely and securely. As COVID-19 restrictions have lifted, technologies introduced as necessities continue frequently to be adopted by preference and best practices in the use of these technologies have been developed. Looking to the future, the benefit to the environment of the adoption and deployment of these technologies is measurable and is finding global support. However, although the opportunity to overcome the inadequacies of traditional dispute resolution has been demonstrated, it appears that there has only been incremental change.
