Arbitration has become by far the preferred route for dispute resolution in sport for good reason, but the unique structure and role of organised professional sport strains conventional approaches in international commercial arbitration. Disputes in sport have been at the forefront of some of the more difficult and interesting challenges to arbitral law, and have begun to shape a hybrid form of arbitration sui generis to sport.
