Sports disputes are routinely subject to private resolution procedures, whether before internal bodies within the sports organisation itself, or before external fora such as, for example, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), Sport Resolutions, or the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution, under their sports arbitration rules. This article presents some key requirements and recommendations for proceedings before national sports tribunals. Given the breadth of the concept of “sports disputes,” however, it is difficult to distil requirements and recommendations that (should) apply across the board in proceedings before national sports tribunals. The article is, therefore, focused on some of the more interesting or challenging elements specific to sports-related proceedings.
