The Business Review (BR) replaced the Operating Financial Report (OFR) in mid-December 2005 on the grounds that it would lighten the regulatory compliance burden of listed corporations. After providing some background this article examines the OFR aims; provides a comparative analysis of OFR and BR; looks at the purpose of narrative reporting (including corporate social responsibility and key performance indicators); and provides some concluding remarks on narrative reporting functioning as a disclosure device addressing the information needs of shareholders.
