The context of this article, in general, is small and mediumsized enterprises (SMEs’) governance and regulation in Australia and, in particular, their need for the inclusion of advisory boards to meet the lack of their knowledge-based skills. It presents the core of the meta-regulation approach and proposes how such an approach can incorporate advisory boards into SMEs without altering much of their governance framework.
