The World Trade Organisation General Council established the WTO Committee on Trade and Environment on 31 January 1995. The predecessors of this Committee are the GATT group on Environmental Measures and International Trade and the Sub-Committee on Trade and Environment of the Preparatory Committee of the World Trade Organisation.
