Are the provisions of the Dutch General Administrative Law Act (GALA) in line with European law? If not, are amendments of this Act necessary or can the problems be resolved otherwise? A recent evaluation shows that, for one part, there are no serious tensions between European law and the GALA and that many of the potential conflicts can be resolved by interpreting the concepts and rules of the GALA in conformity with EC law requirements. However, in certain areas, particularly in relation to the rules on subsidies, legislative amendments of the GALA are either necessary or, at least, advisable.
