Many intellectual property mega cases concerning allegedly infringing goods imported into the United States end up in front of the United States International Trade Commission. Past investigations include billion dollar tech cases between global powerhouses like Nokia, Qualcomm, RIM, Samsung, LG, Sharp, HP, and many others. Despite the economic significance of these cases, there is a relative dearth of statistical analysis of recent trends. This article seeks to supply such information by an analysis of every section 337 complaint filed in the calendar year 2009 (the most recent year for which most investigations have been resolved).
