As TTIP negotiations move forward, Turkey's unique position under the Customs Union with the EU forces it to seek ways to conclude a bilateral free trade agreement with the U.S. The key question today is how certain regulatory issues can be addressed in a potential Turkey-U.S. FTA, given the contentious nature of these issues between the two countries. This article begins by analyzing Turkey-EU Customs Union from both market access and regulatory perspectives, by highlighting Turkey's foreign trade policy under this arrangement. The article then focuses on certain regulatory issues and tries to shed light, based on KORUS and Turkey- Korea FTA and several other related documents, on the possible discussions that may arise under a potential Turkey-U.S. FTA.
