The primary aim of this article is to outline the main features of the Danish labour market and equal opportunities policies (chapters 2 and 3) as presented in the Danish National Action Plan 1999.
By way of introduction, chapter 1 describes some main points concerning the Danish attitude towards the work within the European Community, the Danish strategy for growth and employment and the Danish labour market model. Finally, some viewpoints concerning the application of 'soft law' versus 'hard law' in the European Union are presented in chapter 4.
