The German Posting of Workers Act, which has been in force since 1996, was revised at the end of 1999. This was, in part, due to the need for implementation of the EU Posting Directive on the one hand, while, on the other, the modifications were intended to abolish the practical difficulties appearing over recent years. The following contribution describes these evolutions and, furthermore, deals with a new proposal for a directive in the field of the posting of workers and its effects on German law.
