This article analyses a number of cases as a basis for examining the judicial resolution of jurisdictional conflicts that have arisen between trade unions in Nigeria due to a number of restructuring exercises. These conflicts arise from ambivalence between product market and labour market lines adopted by these exercises. The article concludes that the courts have not shown a consistent trend in determining the basis of unionization and recommends the labour market principle to Nigerian courts as a basis of conflict resolution that will lead to an enhanced organizational efficiency of Nigerian trade unions.
