The following pages include a translation into Spanish of the new French Arbitration Act, approved on 13 January 2011 as an amendment to the French Code of Civil Procedure and which will enter into force on 1 May 2011, replacing the 1981 version. The translation is preceeded by a brief article which highlights the most salient features of this new Act, an important development in a key jurisdictions in the world map of international arbitration. The authors refer not only to the relevance of the amendments for the practice of arbitration in France, but also to the influence that the Act is likely to have in the regulation and practice of international arbitration worldwide.
