A recent Mexican Supreme Court judgment has received equivocal response. Whilst some applaud it, some question it. The reason: the concern that it may water down the finality of arbitration awards. In this essay, the author tackles the concerns and takes the view that they are exaggerated. Moreover, that the step taken by the Mexican Supreme Court is understandable, when all relevant aspects are considered. However, the author believes the concerns deserve being listened to, as they are intelligent and constructive. To cater to them, the author makes a proposal that seeks to influence and channel the nuance in question in the right direction.
