This Article explains
and analyzes the new Puerto Rico Arbitration Law. This law, which was passed in
August of 2024, is based on the U.S. Revised Uniform Arbitration Act and the
UNCITRAL Model Arbitration Law. The law represents a vast improvement over
prior legislation, as it adopts the most recent arbitration norms and resolves
problems encountered in prior legislation. It has four chapters, dealing in
turn with common provisions, ordinary arbitration, summary arbitration, and
international commercial arbitration. Each chapter will be analyzed in turn.
