Our original JOIA article describes and analyses the intersection and interplay of mediator and arbitrator roles. It includes a section outlining permissible boundaries in certain cases. One of these cases comes from the courts of Hong Kong which had previously vacated an arbitral award based on out-of-bounds behaviour by the neutrals involved. This decision was recently revisited and overturned on appeal, as described in this Follow-Up Note.
