The frequent appeals to the Cour de Cassation enable it to review a great variety of decisions rendered in the context of arbitration. The specific nature of the review which it carries out in this context, which is linked to various factors, has made it the demiurge of arbitration law, in particular in relation to the remedies and powers of the courts in this field. However its work does not stop there. Beyond this normative role, the Cour de Cassation, through the formidable tool that an appeal to it represents, reinforces the effectiveness of the arbitral award and can for the future further increase the effectiveness of arbitration by reducing the litigation peripheral to this mode of dispute resolution.
