This note examines the relationships between indicators of competition and environmental performances, based on country-level data sourced from the International Energy Agency and the IMD´s world competitiveness survey. For this purpose, an econometric analysis is undertaken to explore the relationships between environmental and competition law indicators, using data representing economic performance, perceived efficiency of competition policy and carbon intensities for a sample of fifty-eight countries over fourteen years. Results shows little evidence of direct relationships between environmental and competition policies, indicating a need for deeper reflections on how to strengthen bridges between the two fields.
